Current COVID-19 Procedures
With the U.S. government’s declaration of the end of the COVID Public Health Emergency in May 2023, SwRI has updated this website to highlight specific SwRI processes. Executive Management will continue to carefully monitor the pandemic and will adjust according to updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
SwRI advises that staff take preventive actions to prevent the potential spread of Covid 19 (i.e.; obtain vaccinations, monitor symptoms, and stay home if sick).
- Personal Protective Equipment - SwRI will continue to provide either cloth masks or 3- and 4-ply procedural masks where needed for protection from potential community transmission of COVID. SwRI will not provide N-95 respirators for community transmission COVID protection as these require enrollment into SwRI’s OSHA Compliant Respiratory Protection Program.
- Office Cleaning Procedure - Supervisors/Managers may request special cleaning of a common area on campus if a COVID-19 positive employee has been in the workplace within the past 24 hours. If the area is not commonly occupied or the duration since the potential exposure is greater than 24 hours, then special cleaning is not recommended.
- If sick or have an exposure - Contact the SwRI Medical Clinic at 210 522 2220 and medical staff will provide direction. Please notify your supervisor.
- Supervisor - the SwRI Medical Clinic will send an email notification and provide isolation period and return to work information. Promptly respond and contact the clinic if there are any questions.
- Protection from retaliation - SwRI Employees may contact their supervision to report any concerns about workplace safety and health including reasonable concerns about infection control related to COVID-19. Employees may also report concerns directly to ESS at ext. 2221, or to complianceofficer@swri.org. An anonymous concern can be reported through SwRI’s third party helpline, Convercent, at 1-800-461-9330 or online at convercent.com/report.
Retaliation against an employee for adhering to this policy is prohibited. Reference SwRI Retaliation Policy, OPP 2.1.1, B. 8.
